Painting tips for high ceilings ~ a cozy idea for tall ceilings …
If you are fortunate enough to have tall ceilings in your home and are wondering how to handle them, take cues from spaces like yours. Visit museums, hotels, lobby foyers, restaurants or other public spaces that have tall ceilings and see how they are treated.
I love looking at wall/ceiling treatments in public spaces the combination of moldings, wainscoting panels, ceiling treatments, paint colors and wallpaper are sure to inspire me while expanding my vision to a variety of possibilities.
Below are a couple of pictures from a restaurant in a hotel we were staying out in South Carolina. The tall ceilings and their attention to that detail were so beautiful. The playfulness of the paint and the ceiling treatment combined with extra tall wainscoting panels made the space feel intimate and grand all at the same time.

Such a simple effective decorating inspiration from from Farrow and Ball ~ if you have high ceilings, bring the ceiling paint color down onto your walls, this visually lowers the ceiling, making the room more intimate.
Another way to cozy up your space is with beautiful oversized moldings in a slightly different shade than the ceiling, just enough to showcase them while lowering the ceiling.
