The effect that blue has on us in our surroundings evokes a cool, calm environment. Blue tones ease tension while supporting relaxation. Blue also provides a sense of serenity while promoting thoughtfulness and introspection. The use of blue in a commercial application lends itself to areas where people sit and congregate; such as a conference room, meeting room, office or a waiting area.
I have found over the years designing for the residential community, either you’re a blue person or a green person – very seldom did I find someone who was indifferent. Sure you may like both blue and green but it was a clear choice for my clients when making a decision.
In the 2012 Hampton Designer Showhouse, blue was the clear choice for the Dining Room. The use of blue ranged from deep navy on the wall to a mix of blues within the fabric (fabric from Jonathan Adler for Kravet); then blue took a turn and skewed towards green in shades of teal, aqua and turquoise.
