“Decorating/design is at its best when it triggers emotion, changing your perspective either by use or simply being in the space … so I think we have a lot to look forward to.” ~ nancy
NY NOW, opened Saturday February 1 and will close on Wednesday 2/5/2014. Formerly the NY Gift Show; NY NOW is held in Manhattan at the Javits Center and the Piers twice at yearly, winter and summer.
The show was full of unique, creative and innovative designs. The beauty found and designed from natural materials was truly inspiring & nurturing enveloping the Javits Center with an uplifting positive yet relaxed vibe.
My husband and I stopped by the New York Design Center on Superbowl Saturday, just the place a guy waiting to go to the Superbowl wants to be lol! he’s definately a keeper!! But I really really wanted to go to Currey & Company’s opening of their new showroom, and it didn’t disappoint, eye candy for the designer, the showroom was chock full of that Currey aesthetic ~ all types of natural materials layered with more natural materials, I loved the Cape Breton collection layered with oyster shells.

No. 1 trend for me …
This year the show stopper trend for me was the use of natural materials in just about every form;
from pillows in linen to chandeliers sculpted in wood to wire framed furniture and artful accessories crafted from paper.
Then hitting the opposite color spectrum was the use of bright colors either alone or in combination with natural materials.
just a few of my favorites …
Pillows from Callisto Home, accessories from Lazy Susan, furniture by Bungalow5, “wall play” from gold leaf design group, wire chairs from Lostine, artwork from Trowbridge Gallery, bedding from Legacy Home, totes from Toss Designs … the list goes on for me.
