With all the cold weather we’ve had in the Northeast my mind wanders to this past summer when to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary my husband Paul and I went on an Italy vacation, pure bliss ~ I would go back again and again.
One of the first questions I’m asked is “what part of your Italy vacation did you like the best?” My answer “We loved them all!”
Each area we visited was so different, offering such unique visions of Italy and we only covered 4 areas ~ Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence and Venice.
We flew into Rome and stayed at Albergo Cesare centrally located in Rome for 4 nights. That’s me on our rooftop restaurant!
A few tips we got from friends before heading to Italy on vacation were
eat as much gelato as possible
get lost in the beauty
drink wine & eat pasta
~ and as a good friend, i took their advice!
Some pictures from our first leg of the trip in Rome ~
Here is a view from the top of the Cupola t the Vatican, amazing! We took the elevator half way up (which is all you can go) then walked the rest of the way up ~
A close up view of the Vatican Museum ceiling, one of many beautiful sights in this amazing museum. We decided to take a guided tour which was fantastic!
We loved (especially my husband) ancient Rome ~
here we are at the Colosseum
Our last day in Rome we took a bike ride! It was awesome biking through the Borghese Gardens and stopping for a bite to eat and a glass of wine, perfect.
and the fedora hat, as a true tourist i caved in … after a little wine the fedora hat was purchased, but i must say i wasn’t the only one lol!
There were so many things we wanted to do in a short time, it was so exciting. I have to say that on our Italy vacation we wanted it all ~ to explore the cities of Italy; it’s art, food and culture … and … then to relax and unwind in a countryside atmosphere. So for our trip, traveling between the cities and the countryside we experienced the best of both worlds.
