Dining room trends have shifted from a rarely used room to a space full of life and energy.
After my blog Wednesday on HGTV Dream Home 2015 Paint Colors, I wanted to follow-up with a few of my take aways from the spectacular home.
With the Holidays on our doorstep, our dining space once again becomes the heart of our home as reconnect, share holiday meals and pass on traditions …
So my first take away is the dining space…
In the HGTV 2015 Dream Home the Dining Room is simply a part of the Great Room, not a dedicated space but part of an open concept floor plan.
The dining area is located in the great room the behind the sofa and before the kitchen begins. The floor plan allows for plenty of room to move through the space and around the dining table.
I really love this idea and can imagine a family enjoying the space together how they need to … from cooking to working on a puzzle at the dining table to cuddling up and watching a little tv.
Design is driven by function. And with the ever-increasing need for a dining room to function as a vibrant space + one that demands double duty, functionality becomes the overriding trend.
I think it’s exciting to breath new life into design and the result … we are going to start to see some really innovative design applications like the one below.
This HGTV Smart Home has a dedicated Dining Room, but even so the room also functions as a home office.
Purchasing habits for dining room furniture has begun to primarily focus on the dining table and chairs either from the same collection or not. All other pieces are really on an as needed or wanted basis, just as in Meg Ryan’s Dining Room below.
Thanks for sharing your week with me,
