Anyone remember these days …
they revisit you when your “children” move out!
And againwhen your husband adds his design aesthetic!
So what’s a designer and mother to do … absolutely nothing unless …. wait for it … but no interest on anyones part.
So I found myself saying things like …
“great use for duct tape, it’s so versatile”
“glad you have extra sheets”
“dad added a tie-back made from broken mini blind cording, how inventive”
“love the artwork”
“good thing we have some privacy … when is the Super fixing the blinds again???”
For me, my mind was full of apartment window design ideas, this amazing apartment in the best location in Boston has such integrity; huge windows with deep sills, 9′ plus ceiling height, fireplace and all the quirkiness that you could ask for.
I’m thinking …
Paint a neutral color.
Change out the yellow for Elephant Tusk by Benjamin Moore.
Add a quick window treatment update in an Ikat print, one of the collections soon to be offered by IntentionalDesigns.com.
I like the gray tones in this Ikat it works well with his gray sofa and doesn’t compete with his artwork.
I’m a pillow person, for me no room is complete until a few pillows in textural solids and graphic patterns are tossed onto the sofa for long naps.
… and that would do the trick.
The end result, no decorating intervention this trip…
But the guys sure know how to choose a good restaurant and make a reservation. We had a delicious and fun dinner at Carmelina’s in the North End of Boston then off to Mikes to pick up a few Cannoli’s.
have a great weekend!
