Spring Cleaning can uncover lots of stuff you forgot about but now what??
To help you figure out where Spring Cleaning will lead you to, here are our top 5 questions to ask yourself …
- If you’ve held onto that lamp for more than a year
Honestly, do you think you’ll use it now?
Clear your path to the perfect lamp, I couldn’t imagine this bed room with just any lamp!
This navy and white twin bed guest room accented with white bedding and pops of green accents is so fresh and inviting!
- Color, color color … did you change your color palette since you tucked away that area rug?
Today is “someday” what do you think?
It’s hard to believe this room came together without a series of thoughtful decisions. A girls sitting room painted in Benjamin Moore Dill Pickle on the Ceiling with a neutral shag area rug fills this space with a sense of fun and whimsy.
- Maybe you’re thinking about keeping artwork to design a room around?
Think about it, if that’s a no then let it go.
Make room for amazing artwork that speaks to you.
The artwork below I chose when designing the Breakfast Area at the Days Inn in Doylestown. It’s a photograph from a local artist from BucksCountyImages.com, that instantly creates a sense of community and familiarity.
- Be Honest.
When you look at your space … do you like it? does it make you smile?
Or are you constantly trying to find a place for that one last accessory you purchased on vacation?
Ending your hectic day in a comforting space is sure to make you smile & relax.
Creamy white-painted shiplap walls with pale blue paint creates a serene backdrop for the collection of off-white furnishings.
- Would it be a good diy project?
If it’s not well made like wobbly legs or drawers that never opened and it’s not fixable then it may be time to let it go.

My simply real life truth ~
I just finished some Spring Cleaning and was left with an old dresser, artwork, a lamp and ottoman. First I thought I would paint the dresser and combine the rest of the stuff because I do like them and I would be done.
Then in my spare time, it took me a couple of weeks to finish the dresser and I thought,
Plan A: Do I want a room that is designed around leftovers?
Or, Plan B: Or, what would that room look like if I started from nothing a blank slate?
So, its decision time, Plan A or Plan B? I’m going with Plan B. I may not have all the funding for Plan B right now but I’m following my own advice and I’ll be working towards it. If I went with Plan A the room would be done and would be great, but not exactly what I was looking for and you know what that means, a redo in the near future!
It’s Wednesday, have a great rest of the week! ~ Nancy
