Summer Home Decorating Trends are heating up and Boho Style Tops the list!
Boho Style is everywhere from clothing to home interiors.
My husband’s Aunt Barbara had the most amazing house! I never knew what her style was but now it’s clear, Boho Chic. She was just incredible, her eye for design left my wanting to see what she would do next. She was a master of layering patterns, textiles, furniture styles, artwork and collections of all kinds that made her house truly unique & authentic, and to me that is what Boho Chic Design is. ~ Nancy
I really think Boho Chic design is a vibe unlike any other design, it needs to be authentic.
Boho design is a commitment because it’s such a multi-layered multi-faceted collection.
It’s a lifestyle with a deep connection to things you love to have around you almost on a whim yet with great care.
Incorporating an open sense of design, color, pattern, textures and accessories that tells your story every day.
Because today you may find that perfect seashell that must be added to your collection!
Boho Style is brave, open, authentic and chic. ~ Nancy
So if this design style resonates with you or you just want to add a sampling of Boho rich elements, here are a few Boho Style cues to look for to incorporate this trendy design in your home.
Embrace your collections.
Boho Style is not for the minimalist “less is never more” when it comes to Boho Style of Design.
Yet, Boho Style has a Yin/Yang quality about it as well.
Collections of objects that have meaning are of utmost importance and are casually yet artfully placed.
Mix patterns & textures in rich saturated hues.
Global Inspired Patterns are plentiful in a Boho Style Design.
Add a Suzani Print in deep hues like the one above then add more textiles and prints to your space.
Just in case you’re wondering what a Suzani print is. Here are some bullet points from Wikipedia:
Suzani is a type of embroidered and decorative textile.
Suzanis usually have a cotton (sometimes silk) fabric base, which is embroidered in silk or cotton thread.
Popular design motifs include sun and moon disks, flowers (especially tulips, carnations, and irises), leaves and vines, fruits (especially pomegranates), and occasional fish and birds.
The oldest surviving suzanis are from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, but it seems likely that they were in use long before that.
Suzanis were traditionally made by Central Asian brides as part of their dowry and were presented to the groom on the wedding day.
Combine heavier textiles such as leather, velvet, wool & sisal with patterns such as Suzani or Ikats. Then mix in natural wood & sisal elements. Continue to tell your story with an artful collection of black & white artwork.
Mix Furniture Styles
Boho Style typically incorporates a mix of furniture styles from new to vintage. And usually will incorporate Classic furniture pieces like the Eames Chair Below.
Most Importantly, be authentic.
This isn’t a style that comes in a box; it’s authentic, collected, thoughtful, free, and comfortable as your favorite pair of jeans.
Actually, think of your favorite jeans paired with leather sandals, an embroidered top, a statement necklace, sunglasses, bracelets, earrings …. you get it!
Have a great Wednesday! ~ Nancy
