Fabric pattern inspired by Henri Matisse is the ultimate inspiration!
“A Matisse Moment” from Elle Decor (July/August publication) cites Matisse inspired fabrics are on the trend watch once again.
And check out this article from ArchitecturalDigest.com Ten Creative Talents tell AD how Matisse has Influenced their work.
Henri Matisse’s The Cut-Outs from MoMA is a really great article about his cut-out design process, definitely worth reading.
And here we are many years later; the cut-out designs of Henri Matisse (1869-1954) is once again in the spotlight for home decor; fabrics, accessories, tabletop designs, and runway fashion.
I’ve always appreciated and enjoyed art in all different forms…
My Simple Real Life Truth ~
Early on my husband’s Aunt who was brilliant came to visit and wanted to go to the Barnes Museum (when it was at its original location). She knew everything about art, or so it seemed to me. In addition her daughter was studying art at the time and is now an Art Professor.
I on the other hand was completely intimidated as I looked around and saw people sitting still as could be, or discussing the fine points of a painting or moving around the room to find just the right viewing point.
Finally I asked her “what am I suppose to be doing?”
She looked at me and validated my question in her very lovely way. She said something like this “art is just art, either you like it or you don’t. Maybe you feel something when you look at it and maybe you don’t. But it’s your individual connection to the art, no one else’s. You don’t need to know everything there is to know about the artist or period, just if you like it or not, this is your experience.”
I think my stress level went down a thousand percent right at that very moment. The rest of the day was awesome I relaxed & enjoyed the entire experience. Today as I look back on it I’m sure she wanted to visit the Barnes for more reasons than just the art.
So for a fabric pattern
I like Matisse-inspired cut-out designs printed on a white background they feel modern, fresh, casual classic, and fun all at the same time.
When I think of a favorite fabric pattern of mine that is printed on a white background I just love the fabric pattern on the sofa below. Fabrics and wall coverings from Dana Gibson for Stroheim.
Have a wonderful weekend! and maybe if you have time check out a few museums!
