All in all, nightstands are a super convenient piece of furniture for your bedroom. For the most part, they provide double duty by adding storage & having a place to display a simple vase of flowers, a photo or two and maybe even a lamp.
Whatever your bedroom decorating style is, one thing is certain there are a variety of nightstands to choose from!
First, we love this DIY bedside table. Plus adding a vintage suitcase to a plain nightstand adds height, such a brilliant idea!
And a favorite nightstand alternative … is a desk.
Especially if you’re tight on space adding a desk between two beds give each guest plenty of personal room.
Or if you love antiques, vintage nightstands will take many forms!

Likewise, add a nightstand with a sculptural design.

Another substitute for a nightstand is a dresser.
While a dresser provides additional storage it also works to fill up space. For example, if you have just a bit more space to the side of your bed a larger piece will fill it in with more visual weight.
However, if you don’t have much space next to your bed than just a simple round metal nightstand is all you need.
