A look back at the past 2017 home decor trends beause most are still relevant, if you like them. So how will you incorporate a few past trends into your home decor this year, or will you?
Some Home Decor trends just didn’t quite have the staying power.
Trends like rose gold, exposed lighting and pallet everything. Rose gold was never a favorite of mine. However, some exposed lighting was really great. But as for palette diy decor I was behind it. Some of the images on Pinterest were just so cute that I even went dumpster diving to get the perfect palette. But every time I thought about it the return on time didn’t seem to add up for me.
But some home decor trends are timeless such as gray paint colors, white kitchen cabinetry or subway tiles.
What about trends that have been considered overplayed like our beloved shiplap and barn doors … will you add an interior barn door this year?
By the way, I still really like shiplap & barn doors, especially the ones pictured in this blog post.
At the same time design styles trend in and out, like Mid-Century Modern, Bohemian and Hygee.
And I like all three designs too! However, a piece or two will go a long way giving a nod to a particular design style, such as a boho inspired poof ottoman amid a mostly Mid-Century Modern design. As a result, the room is so interesting.
For the most part, I think most of our homes encompass a little of everything. And our core belief “be happy + be comfortable in your home” rings true in our hearts. Because as I always say “it’s your home, I’m only the decorator”.
