My Simple Real Life Truth ~ I have used Chalk Paint over the years and blogged about it kind of bragged about it too! lol, only because Chalk Paint is so easy to apply instantly giving old furniture a new life. It’s different than regular paint it goes on thicker and has amazing coverage. Although I have not tried Magnolia Chalk Style Paint yet I am planning to.
Below is a recap of a few of my diy chalk paint projects.
First, a $10.00 Boho chair that I refinished with Chalk Paint. The color is Devine Blue Jeans from Devine Color. Originally I tried spray painting it pale pink, but I’m not too good with spray paint.
Then after a can or two, I scrapped the idea, headed back to the store & purchased chalk paint. What a difference, it was so easy to apply especially to all the rounded elements. Coupled with a few fun pillows and a throw the chair is cozy & comfy!
Second, a double dresser that was ready for the trash! Saved with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, color Coco. This poor neglected white rattan dresser really needed a little love. With just a few coats of Coco & drawer pulls from Ikea, it’s on its way to good use in a guest bedroom.
Third, Chalk Paint & Mod Modge saves the day!
A Thrift Store Table for $25.00 that was being used for display. As it turns out for good reason, the top was badly chipped & damaged.
But to me, it was just the challenge I was looking for! Immediately I was inspired by high-end furniture pieces that have a textured appearance and decided to play around with this burlap & Mod Podge idea I had. In the end, it turned out to be a great choice.
As a DIYer, I still had some leftover Devine Color Chalk Paint in color Devine Blue Jeans so I decided to use that on the legs & apron. After the Mod Podge & burlap process, a couple of coats of Annie Sloane Chalk Paint color Ochre & Clear Wax were applied.
The result … this tabletop went from chipped and damaged to super cute & durable. And it gets a lot of use (& abuse) but it still looks great.
Happy Monday! Thanks for stopping in today, we hope you’ve been inspired ~ Nancy
