Neutral Paint Colors can be tricky to select. And most often the right color depends on your interior lighting. Instead of hoping you’ll like that little paint chip, buy a few paint samples to try out in your room first. So take a look at a quick video with great ideas on selecting the right neutral paint color for your home.
Also what comes into play when selecting neutral paint colors are the slight undertones.
Most every paint color will have an undertone. And while blue undertones will be perceived as “cool tones” a red undertone is considered “warm”. However, with warm and cool undertones the “white paint” color you selected may have a yellow “warm” undertone. And the gray paint color may have a lavender undertone. And the trickiest of all is the taupe paint color family that can have undertones ranging from mushroom to pink. However, neutral paint colors come in at a close second.
So all in all, what I always recommend to my clients & what I personally do at home is sample my top paint color picks in several areas throughout the room that I am painting. Although this process takes more time, it does helps to alleviate anxiety over selecting the right color.
