5 DIY Dorm Ideas to inspire you! As your searching for decorating inspiration to make a home away from home for your Freshman. Or to help your returning students furnish their off-campus housing in style. And I know it seems early but it’s definitely that time of year when we start thinking about back to school especially for College Students.
5 DIY Dorm Ideas
Creating a home away from home with your College student can help make things just a little easier for their transition.
First, a DIY bulletin board. I love this idea using round cork pieces and attaching them to the wall with mounting strips. You never know how much wall space there will be, so using round cork pieces allows you to be flexible with the space you have.
Second, upcycled furniture. Stylish Storage is always high on the list. But extra space is usually not at a premium. So think of smaller pieces like this end table. Painted red or whatever color goes with the room’s decor adds that personal touch.
Third, a headboard. Most dorm rooms are not user-friendly to hang something as heavy as a headboard. However, this is where a little DIY creativity comes in handy. Hanging a favorite quilt, a tapestry or even a rug will add color, pattern, and warmth to the room. Just make sure it’s secure.
Fourth, Buy Bed Lifts. They are widely available and make a huge difference in the amount of storage you can tuck away. I’ve purchased them from Bed Bath and Beyond.
Fifth, Carpet Squares. Carpet Squares are also a good idea for space constraints. Because from Flor.com, each square measures 19.7″ you can configure the carpet squares to meet your needs. Carpet Squares are workhorses, providing plenty of double duty benefits; they are fun to design, easy to install, they add color and pattern & cover up the floor. In addition, if one gets dirty beyond repair, you can order a new one to replace it! Or if you need to increase the size of your area rug just order additional carpet squares.
