Holiday Clean-up is never really fun. I don’t know anyone who actually looks forward to it. But if we take it on as a challenge, now that could be a game changer. Even going so far as to make it a New Year’s Resolution? Ok, maybe that is a stretch. But home organization is on everyone’s mind. In fact, a top resolution for home-dwellers on Pinterest this year is “organize my space”.
Holiday Clean-up | Organize My Space
So taking our cue from Pinterest we’re going to get organized too! First, Wrapping Paper Storage. Keep it simple with an extra long storage container with a lid. I know this seems just too easy. But that’s the best thing about it. Not only is it cost-effective, but this storage container is also a mobile wrapping station. Equally important, it houses wrapping paper, bags, bows, tape & ribbon with ease. This is my method because it’s super easy to move into any room you need to wrap in. And the plastic container keeps things from getting damp which is helpful if you are storing it in a basement area.
Second, taking down your live Christmas Tree. Once again, probably no one’s favorite activity … but what goes up must come down! Given that, when you purchase your tree add the Tree Removal Bag to your bill, it’s usually located near the register. These bags pull up over your tree to limit the needles falling off everywhere. Especially helpful if you are in an apartment or condo building so you don’t leave a needle trail through your complex (your neighbors will thank you).
Finally, Storing Decorations
Lastly, storing decorations for next year. Certainly having a designated location for storing your holiday decorations is optimum. For example, carve out a little extra space in a bedroom closet, basement or garage for holiday storage. With this in mind, think vertical storage solutions and the taller the better. Because you will not need to reach these things frequently, just once a year. Also, buy a step ladder to keep in your storage area. And surprisingly you will enjoy a go-to storage area in your home!
All in all, storage is on everyone’s mind. And at the end of the day, being organized makes everyone’s life run just a little more smoothly. Whether you have a family or not, being able to pinpoint where things are is important for everyone. In addition, it allows you to purge or donate those things that are not needed any longer.
So thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy the week ahead ~ Nancy
