Accessorizing your home is what makes it stand out from every other home across the world. Just think of it, only you can put your personal spin on your home decorating. Even if you hire a Designer, you are involved in decision making. Plus, all those collected treasures, color choices and new furniture pieces further add your personality.
Accessorizing | Update the Little Things
My Real Life Truth ~ Talking to a Design Client often times I would joke. “Our designs come with a warning, once you begin you will want to continue!” And that was true most of the time. Just think of your own home, once you update one room subsequent rooms begin to look a little off.
Currently, we are updating our kitchen and flooring. It’s a big undertaking and in doing so we needed to clear out the first floor of accessories. Then our time frame was moved back due to a delay in product availability. Which is perfectly normal in the scheme of things.
However, after living without a full kitchen, artwork, accessories or draperies I have been able to really look at each item, mostly because I had to pack them away, lol! And then I brought home my new Aloe Plant and went digging around for my collection of decorative pots that I purchased at least 2 paint colors ago. To my surprise I found them to look dated. Which totally surprised me, really, how can a pot be dated? But it is.
In conclusion, sometimes it’s just the little things that need updating. Like a decorative pot. Or a lamp. And area rug. Bedding. Artwork. Or a throw pillow. And these intentional decorating decisions help us to put our original stamp on our home design. Keeping our house fresh and updated. As I always say at the end of every blog “be happy & be comfortable in your home”.
So thanks for stopping by today, we hope you’ve left inspired ~ Nancy
