Throughout my years of Interior Decorating, shades of blue have always been a popular choice among homeowners. And according to studies done regarding the psychology of color, Blue evokes a sense of calm and serenity while promoting thoughtfulness and introspection.
In addition, blue also is perceived to ease tension and supports relaxation. So if you’re looking for a cool, calm space add a touch of blue.
However, in a commercial space blue is commonly used in areas where people sit and congregate. Such as a conference room, meeting room, office or a waiting area.
As you can see in the image above the sofa is gray as well as the flooring. I think as Gray has become a widely used neutral the marketplace, designers and decorators are looking for additional colors to blend seamlessly into gray interiors.
Because blue is considered a cool tone. And Gray can skew either cool or warm. When combining the two colors think about balancing cool & warm tones. For example, just add a couple of pillows in yellow. Or natural elements such as a rattan basket.
