Where is Farmhouse Design Style Today? After all, this April it’s been 2 years since Fixer Upper, Chip & Joanna Gaines’s last show aired on HGTV. And within 5 years on HGTV Fixer Upper quickly gained notoriety for its distinctive Farmhouse Design Style.

- Begin with a welcoming front door.
- An entryway that says “take your hat off and stay a while”.
- Gathering spaces featuring Open Floor Plans.
- Kitchens with open shelving, large islands & subway tile.
- Room designs that quietly nurture the family.
- Use of reclaimed materials such as shiplap.
- Mix in a few DIY projects, antiques, and cozy textiles.
So how have elements of their signature style morphed over the years?
Farmhouse Design Style
Fast forward 2 years. And we’re wondering how homeowners & designers alike have been adding elements of a Farmhouse Design Style into their homes.
Take a look!
The one thing stands out for me in a Farmhouse Design Style is an overwhelming sense of nurturing warmth. However, it needs to be authentic, a state of mind that brings you to a place of comfort and ease.
When I design an overall plan to decorate a home. Or work on designing a new bedding line or window treatments, the one factor that can’t be seen is the feel of the design.
And so often in decorating the feel of the home is overlooked. But to me it’s one of my key elements of style. No project is complete until it is felt.
