Cookbooks have a special place in my heart. I’ve collected cookbooks over the years and continue to reference them. My mother gave me her copy of the New York Times Cookbook from 1961, with its yellowed and stained pages, it brings back memories of us cooking & baking like it was yesterday. Actually, even a glance at my cookbook collection and I am immediately connected to the person who gave it to me or where I purchased it. And while scanning the recipes I envision the times when our family & friends have gathered together to enjoy a meal.
And even in Our Kitchen Remodel, I made sure to surround myself with my collection of cookbooks.
So here are 3 Make-at-Home Take-Out Recipes from Cookbooks I’ve been enjoying lately.
First, Pizza is one of my favorite foods, I think most people like pizza too, right? However, over these last few weeks, our favorite pizza restaurant has been closed. And happily, for me a friend of mine recommended the cookbook Mastering Pizza by Chef Marc Vetri.
When my pizza cravings became too much, I got around to opening the cookbook, Mastering Pizza, thinking we would have it for dinner that night. But, no, the dough takes 3 days. Who knew? However, the good news is that the recipe makes 6 balls of dough. And they can be frozen! Something tells me I have a steep learning curve on making pizza! But, luckily for me, Chef Marc Vetri has several restaurants in the Philadelphia area!

Finally, if you’re missing that favorite on the way to work, smoothie take-out, make it at home. Once you get used to making a smoothie, it goes pretty quickly. And then you can begin to develop your own recipes. One of my favorite cookbooks for smoothie recipes is by Rocco Dispirito, The Negative Calorie Diet.
Fortunately, we can access curbside pick-up from our favorite restaurants. And supporting local businesses is a big help to them right now. However, along with supporting our local restaurants, a balance of cooking at home feels good too.
Lastly, thanks for stopping by today, we hope you’ve left inspired ~ Nancy
